Job Description

Job Title: Product Assurance Engineer – Assembly and Test

Working Pattern: Full time

Working location: Indianapolis, IN

The Product Assurance team is seeking a Life Cycle Engineer (Production Support Engineer) to support production engine assembly and test. As the Product Assurance Engineer, you will provide world-class technical support for Assembly and Test products. You will identify and resolve product problems during the assembly and acceptance testing of engines and will act as a subject matter expert for engine build and test. You will also ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective product attributes are defined and maintained. This is a fast-paced role ideal for individuals with an engineering background and an interest in/knowledge of gas turbine engines.

What you will be doing

  • Act as technical expert / resource for the engine build line and production engine test while troubleshooting / resolving issues.
  • Lead engineering investigation teams and act as technical interface with Program engineering management while delivering technical communications (e.g., presentations and/or reports) to customers, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
  • Generate and maintain engine Production Test Specifications and act as the engineering / technical expert for production engine test.
  • Identify escapes, coordinate containment activity, and recommend corrective actions. This includes conducting root cause investigation and problem solving as part of the Product Problem Resolution (PPR) process as well as assisting in investigations as required by Service Engineering or Flight Airworthiness.
  • Set and support operational engineering targets (such operational disruption metrics and test rejections) based on historical data and monitor performance against targets. Carry out continuous improvement by identifying Best Practice and Learning from Experience activities, feeding back into future programs and product design teams.
  • Ensure compliance with requirements specified by regulatory authorities and to adhere to technical and business requirements of internal & external stakeholders. Where delegated, act as the Technical Authority providing assurance on build, commissioning, and maintenance activities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering Technology with 2+ years of experience OR
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Electrical Engineering Technology OR
  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • In order to be eligible for consideration, you must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience as a technical expert, resolving product issues and ensure compliance with safety and reliability standard
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to define, plan, and execute engineering tasks/projects and to provide technical guidance and mentoring
  • Experience reviewing specifications with a strong system level understanding of gas turbine engines
  • Experience defining test processes
  • Experience leading investigations and communicate findings
  • Experience focusing on continuous improvement and operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive approach to tasks and ability to manage timelines effectively
  • Strong communication skills with all levels of personnel
